Do you take any of my royalties?

Do I need to have finished my book before I contact you?
You're welcome to talk to us while you're still writing, especially if you'd like to plan ahead and wish to secure a specific publication date.
We won't begin the publishing process, however, until your manuscript has been completed, assessed where required, and signed off as production-ready.
What if my book needs editing?
The £250 Manuscript Assessment identifies whether further editing is recommended. We’ll explain what is needed and provide a separate quote. You can use our editor or choose your own; your manuscript must be signed off as production-ready before publishing begins.
Can I use my own cover designer or editor?
Yes. If you're already working with an editor, designer, or other specialist, talk to us about it.
We can usually work with your existing team and will guide them through the publishing specifications, provided the finished work meets the technical and quality requirements needed for your chosen publishing route.
Will my book be available in bookshops?
Opus Wide can make your book available for booksellers to order. This does not guarantee that shops will stock it on their shelves.
Stocking arrangements may involve wholesale discounts and returns. Returned copies can create costs for authors, so we’ll discuss the options before setting anything up. Chapter 9 explores this in more detail.
Do you take any of my royalties?
No. Your publishing accounts belong to you, and royalties are paid directly to you. JoWP does not take a percentage of your ongoing book sales.
Can you produce an audiobook too?
Yes. Audiobook production can be added to your publishing service. If you're interested in an audio edition, let us know when we discuss your book, and we'll explain the available options.
Can you make my book a bestseller?
We cannot guarantee bestseller status; no one can. We research appropriate Amazon categories and keywords, prepare your book for publication and help you plan launch activity.
If Amazon category bestseller status is one of your goals, tell us. We’ll work towards it while keeping the longer-term aim in view: reaching readers and creating opportunities beyond launch.
How quickly can my book be published?
Once your manuscript is signed off as production-ready, Opus KDP typically takes 4–6 weeks and Opus Wide 12–14 weeks.
We’ll agree a realistic schedule with you. If you have a particular launch date in mind, tell us as early as possible.
Do you publish children’s books, poetry, and illustrated books?
Yes. We offer bespoke packages for children’s books, poetry collections, illustrated books and coffee-table books.
